Find Grants and Benefits in Your State

Most household help is administered by states and counties, even when the money started as a federal block grant. Searching only Grants.gov will miss CalFresh, YourTexasBenefits, ACCESS Florida, and New York OTDA programs. This hub tells you how to find the right portal. A method that works in every state

1. Call 211 or search your state's 211 site for what is open this week.
2. Use Benefits.gov as a screener, then apply on the state site it names.
3. Find your state human services / health and human services department on a .gov domain.
4. For rent, find the PHA via HUD.gov and read rental assistance.
5. For college, use FAFSA plus the state grant agency (often a higher-education office).

Copy-paste pages that only change the state name are a spam pattern. If you land on a site that asks for a fee to "check eligibility in all 50 states," leave. Official applications never require iTunes cards. Scam warnings.
